Billy the Kid
Billy the Kid
After years of fronting the Vancouver rock trio Billy and the Lost Boys, singer/songwriter Billy the Kid teamed up with Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace for her first solo endeavor in 2008. What resulted was a critically acclaimed combination of her DIY roots and a melodic, stripped down acoustic-folk sound. Her follow up solo endeavor was entirely fan-funded (to the tune of over $20,000) and self-produced in Richmond, Virginia where her band the Southside Boys reside.
Billy the Kid has earned placements in A&E’s Biography, Gene Simmons The Family Jewels, Alienated, The Collector, Radio Free Roscoe, Joan of Arcadia, Degrassi: Next Generation, Under Attack, Exes and Ohs, Ride Guide Snowboard, Ride Guide Mountain Bike, Alienated, Canada In The Rough, Nate Berkus Show, Tansrockies, One Angry Juror, The Wisher, Finding Neverland and Ethnosonic.
She has collaborated on musical projects with Garth Hudson of The Band, Joe Mcmahon of Smoke of Fire (Fat Wreck Chords), Ben Peeler of Jacob Dylan and The Wallflowers, Ashwin Sood of Sarah McLachlan, Stan Behrens of Ruth Brown and The Four Tops and Canada’s Kevin Fox, cellist to Steven Page, Tom Cochrane, Chantal Kreviazuk and Kathleen Edwards. Her catalog ranges from luscious, layered alt-country to upfront and in your face pop punk.
