Ben Fox
BEN FOX is a Canadian music producer, guitarist, and award-winning composer for film & television. He's a 3-time Canadian Screen Award nominee, and a graduate of the Canadian Film Centre's Slaight Music Residency, chaired by Oscar-winning composer Mychael Danna.
As a multi-instrumentalist with a passion for innovative music production, Fox brings a modern sensibility to film composition. His work has screened at festivals like Tribeca, TIFF, Palm Springs, BFI London, HotDocs,
Busan, Slamdance, and many others around the world. And his commercial work has led to scoring campaigns for top brands like Adidas and Hugo Boss.
His feature film credits include Nose To Tail (starring Aaron Abrams), Suck It Up (dir. Jordan Canning), and Never Steady, Never Still (starring Shirley Henderson), the latter film earned him a Canadian Screen Award nomination for best original score for a feature film. Ben’s passion for social and climate justice has led to meaningful collaborations in the non-fiction space, scoring feature documentaries like Cynara (dir. Sherien Barsoum), The Age Of Water (dir. Alfredo & Isabel Alcantara), and Stateless (dir. Michèle Stephenson), winner of the HotDocs Special Jury Prize.
Recent credits include Academy Award short-listed ESPN short film Black Girls Play (dir. Michèle Stephenson), and CBC documentary The Climate Baby Dilemma (dir. Victoria Lean), which earned him a 2024 Canadian Screen Award nomination and a Screen Composers Guild Award win.
Beyond film & television, his work as a music producer has led to collaborations with recording artists like Sunshine Makers and Juno Award-winning rock band July Talk. Ben’s score for the feature film The Embers and the Stars (dir. Will Woods), starring Constance Wu and William Fichtner is coming soon.
