Ben Fox
Ben Fox is a guitarist, music producer, and Canadian Screen Award nominated composer for film & television. He is a graduate of the Canadian Film Centre's Slaight Music Residency, chaired by Oscar-winning composer Mychael Danna.
Fox studied violin, voice, and classical & jazz guitar, before turning to rock and pop music, touring internationally with indie rock band Dinosaur Bones, releasing two acclaimed albums on Dine Alone Records. He continues to work as a music producer, collaborating with recording artists like Sunshine Makers and July Talk.
Fox's film work has screened at festivals including TIFF, Tribeca, BFI London, Busan, Slamdance, and many others around the world. He’s scored commercial campaigns for top brands like Hugo Boss, Adidas, Walmart, and Crown Royal; and award-winning short films like ‘Take A Walk On The Wildside’, and ‘Refuge In The Rockies’. Fox's score for feature film ‘Never Steady, Never Still’ (dir. Kathleen Hepburn) earned him a nomination for Best Original Score at the 2018 Canadian Screen Awards.
Recent credits include the Oscar short-listed documentary ‘Black Girls Play' and documentary feature ‘Cynara’. His score for the television special, ‘'The Climate Baby Dilemma', earned him a 2023 Canadian Screen Music Award, as well as a 2024 Canadian Screen Award nomination.
