David Ramos
David Ramos is an award-winning artist and multi-instrumentalist. Surrounded by his substantial collection of Latin American instruments in his Commercial Drive studio, he’s able to create musical mindscapes that cut through time and genre; his obsession and deep understanding for story guides his creativity to the musical needs of every new show.
David holds a degree in classical guitar from UDLA in Mexico. After additional schooling in SUNY Potsdam in New York, Concordia University in Montreal, and Instituto Superior de Arte in Cuba, he received a degree in audio engineering from Pacific Audio-Visual Institute in Vancouver. Along with his dual degrees, he also has dual citizenship with Canada and Mexico and is fluent in Spanish and English.
David has scored two award-winning biopics: I Am Heath Ledger (featuring Ang Lee, Ben Harper, Naomi Watts) and Johnny Cash: American Rebel (featuring Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, Rick Rubin), receiving Leo Awards (BC Emmys) for the latter. He recently scored a stop motion animation featuring Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings) and has had the good fortune to score three feature films for Oscar-winning director John Zaritsky. He has collaborated with Grammy-winning producer/composer Ben Mink (k.d. Lang, Rush, Elton John) on multiple projects including the Emmy-nominated miniseries Alice (Kathy Bates, Tim Curry) for Syfy Channel.
David scored Dianne Whelan’s epic adventure film 500 Days in the Wild (Paramount +) for which he received a 2024 Leo Award nomination
