Isa and Rich

Richard Pell and Isabelle Noël are Canadian film composers and performing artists based in Toronto. Drawing from diverse musical backgrounds spanning indie bands, jazz, DJ-ing, and electroacoustic soundscape design, the duo has developed a distinctive and versatile voice in screen music.

They began collaborating in 2010 when Rich was introduced to Isa’s electroacoustic works for contemporary artists, presented at venues including MoCA Miami, the Istanbul Biennial, the Art Gallery of Ontario, and the Power Plant.

Since then, their original scores for film, television, and documentary projects have been featured across CBC, BBC, HBO, PBS, Disney, National Geographic, Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, with work showcased at TIFF and Sundance.

Recent projects include Malory Towers, currently airing on the BBC, and award-winning director Phyllis Ellis’s feature documentary, Beautiful.

Beyond their scoring collaborations, Rich performs with his improv band Jellastica and his jazz trio, while continuing to develop his classical repertoire for guitar. Isabelle is currently completing Ravins, an electro-symphonic operatic album featuring Fides Krucker.
